I wanted the walls in the corridors to have consoles (Atleast from the Cryo to Med Bay) because it would be a way of monitoring the people in stasis as you went from room to room. The pipes on the side could contain coolant and the consoles regulate it.

It made sense to me to fit some of the walls with vents or pipes because the room on a spacecraft would always be cramped or full, every space made use off in some way.

I didn't want to have blank smooth walls either and would like to continue this kind of design throughout the ships corridors.

*This wall will not be used for all of the ships connecting regions. Just from medbay to cryo and maybe in the Generator room.

I'd like to create vents as well and a power source for the cryostasis chamber.

Level Layout

My Textured Cryo Tubes.

I tried to keep them looking like glass.

I used three passes of this texture on the inside cylinders (Tubes). Once for the texture map which is stretched on the Y to give it long lines, this imitates the long streaks. The 2nd for the normal map and the third is for the self-illumination map.

This texture is used on the top and bottom segments of the Cryotubes




I didn't end up using this because the massive wire in the middle made the tube look too comical.

Story Evolution

Back story:

In the future mankind has colonized the far reaches of our galaxy and has begun deep space exploration to our distant sister, the Andromeda galaxy.

The main character is a security guard aboard the U.F.S Research Vessel Flagship  'Miller. The Miller was destined to rendezvous with the U.F.S Assault frigate 'Alabaster' near Andromeda's outskirts.  

After the briefing the Millers crew went into Cryostasis to prep for Hyperspace and the journey to come.
Setting:

The main character has woken up from Cryostasis. To find the spacecraft has come under attack by an unknown life form. As he navigates through the ships quiet, haunting corridors he must find out what happened, restore the ships power and find a way to escape.

Noted tactical adviser for the Phobos Civil war 4009 - 4020, successful peace talks earning the United Federation priceless minerals. Promoted to Adamant rank, 1st class.

Currently serving as Security Executor aboard the  U.F.S Research Vessel Flagship 'Miller.
